Toner Recycling Programs
Millions of inkjet and laser printer cartridges are used in the US each year, with approximately 95% of used cartridges going to landfill. This convenient solution is not sustainable and we must all acknowledge the importance of the problem if we are to find a positive alternative strategy.
Each of the manufacturers we have partnered with have developed a Toner Recycling Program, as part of their larger sustainability commitment. There is no one right answer as to what to do with the empty cartridges, bottles, waste units, and drums. Everyone will agree that reuse, recycle, recover is the goal. Exactly what does that look like?
Konica Minolta knows that a smaller ecological footprint is to everyone's advantage - and you can count on Konica Minolta to lead the way in making toner cartridge and consumable recycling simple and cost-free. Samsung's S.T.A.R. program's firm promise is that every returned empty cartridge is safely and responsibly recycled; unlike some printer manufacturer's return programs, they are never incinerated or sent to landfills. Any parts that cannot be recycled are treated and disposed of in a way that causes minimal environmental impact. This ensures that the maximum value from each returned cartridge is obtained at the smallest environmental cost. Samsung is also researching how to reuse the recycled materials in the production of new cartridges or other products. Now, returning an empty Samsung cartridge is easier than ever: simply print and attach a SmartLabel® to your package and drop the return off at any US postal center. Click here to read more
